Ukiah Democratic Headquarters Opening Reception, Friday, Aug. 15, 4:30 to 7:30 pm
Great news! The lease is signed for the 2008 Inland Mendocino Democratic Headquarters. The new headquarters is located downtown, at 205 West Standley St., directly across the street from the Savings Bank.
“We are all very excited to have landed such a great spot downtown,” says Wendy Pollitz, member of the Mendocino County Democratic Central Committee and president of the Ukiah Valley Democratic Club. “There's already lots of political signs in the window, and we’ll also be decorating the large windows in the old antique storefront that's empty on School St.”
Volunteers from the UVDC and the Inland Mendo Obama 08 campaign are already holding planning meetings at the headquarters. Starting Aug. 18, office hours will be 10 am to 6 pm, Monday - Saturday. Activities will include phone banking, precinct walking, voter registration, bake sales and meetings. We’ll also be getting a bigscreen TV to watch the debates, the Dem convention and the Election Night returns.
“This will be a great space for all our activities,” says Debora McGillivray from the Obama campaign. “We will have 5-6 phones and WiFi for phone banking. We will be selling t-shirts, bumper stickers, rally signs and lawn signs.”
An Opening Reception with wine and cheese for the headquarters is set for Friday, Aug. 15 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Volunteer training is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 12 and Thursday, Aug. 14 at 5:15 pm. Be sure to attend the Grand Opening on Labor Day, Sept. 1, from 10 am to 4 pm.
“This is going to be great fun,” says Wendy. “But November is also one of the most important elections of our time; locally, nationally and state-wide. Please give some of your energy. Also pass this on to your friends. It's time for Democrats to pull together as a team.”
If you are interested helping out, please contact Wendy at 462-1399 or 463-DEMS or stop by the new headquarters at 205 West Standley.
